Where there's a problem there's a solution

  • Unable to read the cmd header on the pmi context, generic socket failure, error stack

  • When reading in a .cas and/or .dat file in parallel you receive the following error or similar error:

unable to read the cmd header on the pmi context, generic socket failure, error stack:
MPIDU_Sock_wait(####): The specified network name is no longer available. (errno 64).
received suspend command for a pmi context that doesn't exist: unmatched id = 1

    *Resolution*
There is a known problem in reading the data in chunks in FLUENT 6.3.26 under certain conditions. This has been resolved in FLUENT 12.

As a workaround you need to set the following scheme command in the FLUENT window before you read your case and data file in:

    (rpsetvar 'parallel/data-read-write-in-chunks? #f)
